The Suhana Indian RestaurantThe Suhana Indian Restaurant81, High StreetGolborne Lancashire WA3 3BU Tel: 01942 717730 A typical small-town Indian restaurant, providing the "usual" menu choices. It's a fairly small place in the centre of Golborne in a building which I seem to remember used to house one of the few "night-clubs" in the area - but that was too many years ago.
Although I've eaten in the restaurant a few times over the past few years, it is the take-away aspect of the place which has kept me returning. Whenever I've been away on business, and the lateness of return means that my wife doesn't feel like cooking, I toddle down to the Suhana. The staff are always friendly, though I have had a report of particularly slow service on a couple of occasions, I can believe that the problem was transient. There have been a couple of times when the quality of the meal was less than expected, but again, I can "put it down to experience" as the good outweighed the bad. I have to admit that, after initially trying the whole range of the menu, I have settled down to a couple of favourites. In particular, I enjoy the Lamb Pathia. I have always found that the degree of heat suited me, and that the freshness of the ingredients shone through - I love it when you can identify the different spices and other ingredients. The Naan bread is another of my favourites - even my daughter likes those, and she's generally not interested in anything more than a burger! Although I can't really comment on its general popularity - it is generally fairly empty at the times I turn up for a takeaway - the place has been open for years, and the clientelle I do see seem to be regulars. Verdict - I don't think the Suhana is, or considers itself to be, a Top-Class restaurant, but as a local eatery, I'm going to say "give it a try". Sandro |
