Simply Heathcote'sSimply Heathcote'sElliot House, Paul Heathcote renowned chef and restaurant owner, he has now expanded from his Preston beginnings where he has 5 restaurants. Simply Heathcote's his 'School of Excellence' is here in the centre of Manchester , aiming straight at the high quality dining fraternity. The restaurant succeeds with fine food a contemporary designed restaurant with staff that are extremely polite and helpful. Situated in Jacksons Row it is between the Palace Theatre and Albert Square, Jackson row is a long narrow street with car parking down one side. The restaurant is airy, and is of contemporary design, resembling perhaps a minimalist New York apartment. Example starters, from a menu that changes regularly, are Crab Cakes with a Chile Coleslaw, Black Pudding, & a warm salad with sautéed Tiger Prawns. On this occasion I had the Crab Cakes and for my main course I had Honey Glazed Duckling with Shallots and a baked fig, and for pudding I tried the home made ice cream (Chocolate & Vanilla) (other more exotic flavours included Carraway and Mandarin Sorbet), perhaps the best pudding was the 'JaffaCake' Soufflé which my wife had and was extremely scrumptious. The whole meal was expertly cooked, using fine ingredients and delightfully presented. Booking : I'd recommend booking a month in advance
if possible. Verdict : Fancy food at fancy
prices ... well worth considering, The restaurant is particularly one to be put in the category of 'For Special Occasions'. On this occasion it was my wife's birthday and she thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. James |
