La Tasca Spanish Tapas RestaurantLa Tasca Spanish Tapas Restaurant 14th December 1999 Our team decided to go back to La Tasca for our Christmas dinner. Four of us turned up to face the Set Christmas Meal. On previous visits (first, second), we'd had a pretty good time, but something went wrong on this occasion. Whinge time here - I'm going to vent my spleen and complain that they served too much, and too quickly. All four of us were sated by the time we'd got half-way through the meal. Three quarters through and we decided enough was enough - the waiters seemed bemused when we explained that there was nothing wrong with the dishes, just the amount. We reckoned that had we attempted to put all we were each offered on a single dishes, they would each have been a foot wide - and a foot deep. When we discussed this later, we all agreed that it had been a waste. We would much have preferred smaller, and / or fewer, portions of something perhaps more exotic, or "special". We should probably have ordered individually, or even selected between us just what we could manage. Whinge over. This episode has not changed my overall good impression of La Tasca, but I wonder whether the waiter picked up on our comments, and whether the message got any farther up the chain? Sandro Melkuhn |
