Green Lizard RestaurantGreen Lizard Restaurant A small, Bistro type restaurant situated just outside the pedestrianised shopping area of Scarborough, quite close to the imposing Victorian Grand Hotel. My wife, Sue, and I came across this establishment whilst looking for somewhere to eat other then fish and chip cafe's on a weekend break in Scarborough. We arrived about 7.30pm, not having booked, and found the place busy, although mainly occupied by a large party. We were made to feel very welcome, and the atmosphere was pleasant, with simple decor. The menu was mainly seafood, with a number of 'specials' on a blackboard in addition to the main menu. We both ordered main courses from the blackboard, and shared a tasty Garlic Mushroom starter from the main menu. For main courses Sue ordered Baked Crab and I went for the Seafood Chowder. Both of these were well presented and delicious, with generous helpings. This was washed down with a bottle of reasonable dry white house wine for around £8. For desert Sue had Profiteroles and I had a huge banana split, again nicely presented and tasty. The total cost for two, including coffee, came to around £40. In summary, we can recommend this restaurant - Excellent food, average prices, friendly service (although a little slow), and pleasant atmosphere. Bob Hay. |
