Biggles RestaurantBiggles RestaurantTilehouse Lane Biggles (lovely Biggles) is a small family run restaurant based in Denham, Middlesex, overlooing the Denham Aerodrome. It serves possibly the best French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and British cuisine I have ever tasted. I have been dining there for about fifteen years now. Its difficult to get a table at weekends (they have two sittings - 7.30pm and 9.30pm) but if you book in advance you won't be disappointed. Every time I go there I try something new (to me anyway) . . . . frogs legs, escargot, deep fried brie. The menu is so vast, I defy anybody not to find something they like. Everything is freshly made to order, from the beef wellington right down to the chocolate sauce for the choux pastry. A number of dishes are cooked at the table (flambe duck breast in apricot brandy sauce and crepe suzette). The bar area is cosy but at least you can peruse the menu whilst enjoying an aperitif. The very friendly and efficient wait staff will take your order prior to being shown to your table. As the venue is quite small (say 10 tables) you feel like you are dining in a friends home rather than a restaurant. In the Winter time there is an open fire and in the Summer time, the french doors open to a patio and swimming pool. In all the years I have been attending I have never once had to send anything back, the service has been excellent and the food better than I have ever tasted anywhere in the world. The prices are surprisingly reasonable. So far it has never cost more than £60 per couple! Including 3 courses and a bottle of wine. The chaps usually enjoy after dinner ports and brandy's and the girls are usually sipping a Bailey's or two. Drinks are of generous portion so plan on getting a taxi there and back.
