The Weighbridge InnThe Weighbridge
Inn The Weighbridge Inn is famous for its two Two-in-One pies, described in the comments below. Landlords Simon & Jane Hudson have carried on this fine tradition. Apparently, the author Katie Fforde describes a visit to the Pub and a meal upstairs in the hayloft in her novel Living Dangerously. She wrote; He took her to a pub famous for its double Pies. Half the dish was a pie with fly away pastry on top, the other half was cauliflower cheese. Because it was still early they managed to get a table upstairs, where massive old beams actually held the place together rather than forming tasteful backgrounds for horse brasses. We are long-term visitors to the pub. I was born in Gloucester but moved away in 1978. My mother and father and some other relatives and friends still remain there however. We have sort of adapted The Weighbridge, for meeting up and celebrating (it is my fathers favourite!). "The Two-In-One proved too much of a pull to change our venue. When we heard that the pub was for sale, we did spend a short while considering a change of career (I am a Highways Consulting Engineer and Karin helps disabled children), but doubt if we could arrange the finance with no previous experience! How, after all, could we risk losing our precious Two-In-One? Well we need not have worried, congratulations, the pub and the Two-In-One are in safe hands. Well done! We noticed the subtle addition of a sprinkling of cheese on top and the stronger cheese flavour, which improved on perfection! What is more it was so much more enjoyable in the convivial atmosphere. Nick & Karin Stilwell. On our arrival, indecision on my part as to which beer to have prompted "mine host" to offer me "tasters" of the range in order that I would be satisfied, a gesture that was much appreciated, and made me feel truly welcome. This was followed by an excellent meal of the famous "2 in I", on which, I must confess I was previously briefed. A problem evidently occurred in the kitchen however, which caused a delay in the service, gas on the blink, I believe, but what impressed me was the trouble taken the cook to come and genuinely apologise and explain the delay, an action that enhanced the end of a very pleasant weekend.
