Gabriele & Tomoko TudiniGabriele & Tomoko Tudini The waiters seemed busy. and were not too quick in taking our orders - we noticed later that at least one of them was engrossed in discussion with a young lady at one of the other tables. I ordered an Antipasto Misto - salami, cheese, prosciutto, followed by a seafood risotto. Dave had the Antipasto Vegetale, followed by Ravioli. Sue had Ravioli, and Marg the Cotoletta Milanese, with fries. 4 glasses of house red. Once the order had been taken, the food was delivered very quickly. There was a little confusion because Sue had ordered garlic bread - but "Bruschetta" (Toasted bread, sometimes rubbed with fresh garlic, drizzled with olive oil, topped with fresh tomato - scrummy!) was complimentary. Main courses arrived seconds after the first course - there was little enough room on the table, so I was quite irritated that I had to tell them to take my main course back as I was only about 1/3 into my starter! This may have been understandable if they had been trying to clear tables for waiting customers - but there were none! All the food was acceptable - though Marg was convinced the Cotoletta was Chicken, not Veal. The most expensive item on the bill was the service, at 19,000 lire. The total of 133,000, at the exchange rate at the time of 3200, was a little over £10 a head. The meal overall was not brilliant - but the excitement of being in Rome took some of the disappointment away. Sandro |
