The Thai Villa RestaurantThe Thai Villa Restaurant56, Victoria Rd I dined here Saturday 10th August. I booked a table for 5 people at 8pm. We arrived at 8.10pm to a half-full restaurant of say 20 tables. We were taken to our table and it took us till 8.30pm to find a member of staff to take a drinks order and show us the menu! Drinks finally arrived at 8.50 (they had no lemonade so went to the off-licence next door to buy a bottle), they also had no Bacardi and their choices of wines were so limited we ordered a bottle of house white (there was only two of us drinking the wine). Starters finally arrived at 9.15pm and were 'OK' but by no means worth the wait. When the main courses arrived at 9.50pm - by this stage I was almost chewing my arm off! they were so cold that we could pick the dishes up with our bare hands. There wasn't steam coming off a single dish. When we complained they said they would cook fresh dishes for us but we were loathe to wait another 30mins so we asked for the bill. They tried to get away with charging £49.00 for 4 starters a bottle of house wine, 2 beers, 1 orange and lemonade and one coke (soft drinks are served in tumblers). When we queried the bill we were told that each soft drink was £1.95 . . . . the lemonade they had bought next door was only 96p and they'd used about 1 inch out of the top of the bottle. In the end we demanded to see the manager and was told that he is the chef and is unable to come to see us. After much toing and frowing between the kitchen and the dining area they agreed to make the bill £20. I cannot recommend the Thai Villa for anything apart from maybe 'worst service award'.
