The Thai Barn RestaurantThe Thai Barn Restaurant24 Bridge St Absolutely brilliant is the only way to describe it. The restaurant is fairly new and has quickly won a following in the area and has had acclaims in the local press. The service is spot on and welcoming. You get complimentary prawn crackers to start which are yummy. To start we had Thai fish cakes with a ginger and chilli dip - amazing - and vegetable in a tempura batter with sweet chilli sauce, lovely. For the main course a seafood stir fry in oyster sauce - again amazing- plus chicken in a mild curry and red pepper sauce. The meal was made by the special fried rice which contained prawns, vegetables and pineapple served in a hollowed out pineapple. The sweets were slightly out of the ordinairy and were ok but nothing to write home about. It also has a good wine menu, we tried the recommended New Zealand Chardonnay which went well with the meal. Cost £58 for two including wine. Mark Harrold |
