Wandering from my hotel near St. Paul's Cathedral I literally stumbled upon Trat-Est (previously known as "Terrazza Est") just down the road at 109 Fleet Street. What made me stop and go in was a notice outside advertising opera singing while you eat!
Sure enough there were two professional opera singers, who throughout the course of the evening entertained us with various operatic arias, in between eating their own meals.
While sipping my Peroni and waiting for my order I enjoyed some of the five varieties of bread brought to the table and more arias. I had a starter of cannelloni, which literally melted in the mouth with a buttery texture. Followed in a measured pace by new potatoes, spinach and the most tender salmon.
Washed down with a glass of pleasant house red and a couple of cappuccinos the whole bill came to just over £22.
In summary the food was excellent, the service professional and the entertainment splendid. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood - I'll be going again tonight!
