Rosati Bar Ristorante PizzeriaVia Chiaia 260 Friday 15th March 2002 Our first full day in Naples. We have walked from our hotel on the sea-front at Castell dell Ovo, through the Piazza del Plebiscito. We have just wandered round the impressive Galleria Umberto and were beginning to hanker after our first meal in Naples which just had to be a Pizza. There seemed to be precious little choice, at least in that area, but we happened on the Rosati pizzeria restaurant. As ever, we have left it late, and we are worried that the lunch session is finished. We enter on the ground floor and go past the large wood-fired oven up stairs to the restaurant to find that the restaurant is quite busy, with a mixture of tourists and locals. The pizzas were quite tasty, perhaps a tiny bit doughy in parts, but boy, was the service quick! I know these ovens are hot, but the speed with which they can cook a pizza is impressive. Two pizzas: one Margherita, one with Anchovies, a litre of water and cover charge came to 17.55. (£11.30) Not a bad start to the holiday. We can certainly recommend Rosati for lunch. Sandro and Marg
