Le Moulin a Bière
Le Moulin a Bière
Tel.: 03 21 85 30 02, 1st September 2001 Our last meal in France on this motoring holiday found us scouring the enormous Cité Europe for a fitting meal. We needed a meal but were really stuck for time, as we had to do all our shopping before catching the shuttle. What caught my eye initially, was the fact that they had Choucroute on the menu. As a kid, my father used to make a dish, Hungarian in origin I think, which I recently discovered is also a well-known Polish dish, Bigosh. In turn, this is very similar to the Alsatian (?) dish of Choucroute: Sauerkraut with various meats such as smoked sausage, pork &c... I have always loved the dish, so when I saw that this restaurant also brewed its own beer, matters were settled. Marg wasn't hungry (again) so decided on a Green Salad with Lardons. I tried the Choucroute "Brasserie", with Smoked streaky Bacon, Strasbourg Frankfurter Sausage and Garlic Sausage. The serving was enormous. Marg was pleasantly surprised by the salad - it was light and flavoursome, and enhanced her appetite. A glass of their own beer was doing an admirable job of accompanying the choucroute - I was in Hog Heaven, but beginning to struggle against the mound of food presented. This meal did turn out to be a fitting last meal in France. Although the setting wasn't typically French, being in the midst of a shopping mall between MacDonalds and Irish Theme Pubs, the food, beer and service were typical of France. Well done Recommended Sandro
