My birthday dinner.

Although we'd been to La Boheme several times, it has been quite a while since we were last here.
Friends of ours are regulars and reminded us about the place, so we booked a table.

I looked up their web site so I could check the menu - I'm notoriously slow and indecisive, so a "sneak peek" would help.

My first impressions were that the choices seemed to be somewhat "heavy" - the descriptions gave me the impression that the dishes would be overly complicated and 'formal'. Nevertheless, I made a preliminary selection

We arrived at about 6:30pm, intending to takeadvantage of the "Early Bird" special. We were given the option of having a drink in the (rather small and bijou) bar, or going directly to our table. We elected to go straight in, to a nicely appointed alcove table. The staff were attentive, efficient and friendly - even amusing, without being too intrusive.

We gave the waiter our selections and were chatting over drinks when the waitress appeared with a try of "amuse bouche" for our delectation.
Warm Cauliflower soup was extremely tasty - a "shot-glass" full was just right - any more would, I think, have been overowering.

La Boheme remains one of our favourites - it has stood the test of time and we heartily recommend it to you. Bon apetit!
