The Harbour Inn
in Bowmore, Argyll and Bute has been presented with the AA Best Seafood Pub in Scotland Award, which is
sponsored by the Sea Fish Industry Authority
(Seafish).
The Harbour Inn topped 84 pubs from all over
Scotland, also set to appear in the AA Pub & Inns Guide 2001, which
also contains details on 2000 pubs throughout England, Scotland and
Wales.
The family-owned Harbour Inn stands on the sea
wall next to Lochindaal only a stones throw from the Bowmore
Distillery.
Bistro-style lunches and nightly dinners focus
on Islays succulent seafood, dishes include local crab fishcakes and
baked Gruinart oysters and griddled Lagavulin scallops.
David Hancock, AA Pub Guide Editor says: The
Harbour Inn can't help but make good use of the local fishing industry, so
not only are diners offered innovative and delicious seafood meals, but
they can also be assured that the ingredients are the very freshest
possible.

Scott Chance, the Harbour Inn owner, received a
certificate from James Chassels, AA hotel inspector. There are more than
2000 AA-recommended pubs in the AA Pub Guide 2001, with 500 displaying the
Seafish symbol, which indicates that the pubs offer at least four dishes
based on sea fish.
