This old inn, just off the M40, was revealed to me by a colleague I was visiting in the area. Although some considerable distance away from my normal range, I always try to time my trips past there to co-incide with meal times!

I had the best vegeterian meal I'd ever experience there - a Wild Mushroom Stroganoff which was, to my taste, absolutely perfect. Couple that with a limited but excellent selection of guest beers, and you're in hog heaven.

The menu - chalked up on a couple of blackboards round the bar, is more extensive, and more imaginative, than many restaurants I've been in.

The bar itself is highlighted by a glass-topped well in the centre.

On the few occasions I've manage to get there, it has been fairly late in the day for lunch (say 2:30 ish), but the place was still well attended, and some people were still eating. The atmosphere was something I particularly enjoyed - but that may be because I enjoy the Archers?

Verdict - If you're in the area, I'd recommend this place heartily.
