29th August 2001

The final night of our holiday in Antibes saw us back in the old town, where we tried the Café des Chineurs.

A couple of Pastis while we perused the menu. Neither Marg nor I had a starter - again it was too hot to sustain a decent appetite!

We both went for simple dishes - Marg for Chicken, me for Steak. A half-litre pitcher of the house red was adequate, and the meal was totally satisfactory.

One point which annoyed us - but other may find appealing - is that "wandering minstrels" are a constant distraction, and can sometimes be quite persistent. Tonight, though, the entertainer was an old man with a zither, which I quite enjoyed - so much so that he got a tip out of me!

As Marg had been looking forward to a Gauffre, and this was our last night she decided to try one, even though she was full. I joined her with a Crème Caramel. Both were more than acceptable, and we left feeling quite satisfied.
