Everytime I go to the Plantagenet house restaurant I have an excellent meal and if anything the service has improved to go with the excellent food. My wife had the pork tenderlion and I had the fillet steak both were excellent. The starter were also very good my wife had the spinach souffle and I had the crayfish and smoked salmon starter. Wine was good a sirah-viognier,worked wellwith the steak and the Welsh cheeses I had later.

Enjoyed the day so much will be going back on Friday evening.

Whilst on holiday in Tenby we discovered the Plantagent and booked a table for the Friday evening. We had been told that it had the reputation of being the best restaurant in Pembrokeshire. Well I am sorry but I cannot agree.

The starter by partner had was avocado, mozzarello and tomato with dressing. The avocado was rock hard. We sent the starter back and the second attempt was better.

My main meal was Lobster Thermidor. What I got what nothing like any Lobster Thermidor I had had before. It had no tarragon, cheese or any specific flavour and and looked as if it may have been a shrimp sauce, but did not taste of shrimp either. I amake a marvellous lobster thermidor and think I will e-mail the Chef my recipe so that he can try again!!!!

My partner had sea bass fillets, but these were very uninspiring.

The were very pleasant and we had dessert and coffee which we were not asked to pay for. However, we gave cash to pay and instead of returning the change to us and us offering a tip, they walked off with the cash, assuming the change was a tip.

We will not return!!!!!!

After a gap of 4 yrs we were able to visit the Plantaganet Restaurant again. My favourite "The Seafood Platter" was excellent, just as I remembered it! My husband had a whole Plaice which was just as good. As we left the restaurant we booked for the next night! When we arrived I cheekily asked if they could cook me a special delight!! A quick word with the chef assured me that they not only could, but would!! The meal was superb and very enjoyable! My husband opted for a fillet steak. It was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection, the best steak he had ever had! What more can we say? If you can afford it, give yourselves a treat!!

The ambience of this restaurant is like nothing I have ever experienced before. I sat in a window with the Tudor Merchant House next to it. OH laughed when I said this was like role play!!

Food spectacular. The sea bass I shall always remember, seasoned to perfection.

Staff attentive without being over powering.

Went back the following day for just a cup of tea to just relive the whole experience.

(Forget to mention the ladies loo (Especially the one next to the window!)

A wonderful place which I hope one day can relive the experience.

Diolch, Thank you to everyone involved.

After getting married 6 yrs ago we went to tenby on honeymoon and found this delightful, quaint place. Since then have returned every year since on many occassions, anniversary being amongst them.

The menu changes depending on the season and with every change it just gets better. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The owners both work front of house meeting, greeting and serving. They definitely lead by example a very good trait of an owner. The food it fantastic whether it is seafood, lamb or steak, which have all been tried by my husband or myself. The size of the portions are more than adequate and would advise if going for evening meal, DONT eat that day or you will never get the chance to sample the delicious desserts. Not one of the cheapest places to eat but well worth the money paid and would recommend this for any man trying to impress his date due to the candle lit table and oldie world decor.

Myself and wife dined at the resteraunt on June 30th as a treat for our Aniversary having booked the previous week. I must say this was a delightful place to eat. Having entered the resteraunt we were greeted with a lovely smile and welcomed. On being presented with the menus we were invited to go down stairs to the bar area were we could partake in some liquid refreshments and study the menu, which was very impressive indeed. We were then asked if we were ready to order, however there was no rush what so ever and we could take our seats whenever we felt like it, which was a very pleasant change from some resteraunts. Starters we had were, Tomato and basil soup with parmasane which my wife found excellent and I had the Scallops which again were excellent. Main course I had Venison and my wife had Lamb which again was superb. No deserts as we were both more than filled. Overall I would recommend this resteraunt to anyone, however if you are looking to pay 10 pounds for 2 courses forget it. Our meal came to 70 pounds with 2 drinks each, but boy o boy was it worth every penny! Many thanks to all the staff and yes we will be calling again on our next visit to Tenby.

Although regular visitors to Tenby, we have rarely eaten out at Restaurants in the town. During a weekend break to Tenby, my husband and I booked an evening meal at The Plantagenet on the recommendations of friends. We were greeted by friendly staff and guided to the bar downstairs whilst a table was being prepared or became available. Shortly afterwards we were shown to our table, very comfortable and pleasant surroundings, and handed our menus. Before seeing the menu that evening I had decided on fish as I had fancied a plate on the menu board earlier that day. However on reading the menu inside the Restaurant I was delighted to see my favourite, Lamb Shank listed and was very easily persuaded to change my mind from the fish to meat. My husband being a fish lover chose a salmon dish and we had a bottle of white wine to accompany our meals. Within a short time our meals were presented to us. Both meals appeared appetising. My Lamb Shank was served on a bed of couscous, Moroccan style. Now, as I say Lamb Shank is my most fave meal in the whole wide world and have enjoyed it at many a Restaurant, however I couldn't have been more disappointed when I put my knife to it and the Lamb remained firmly to the bone. Normally one touch of the knife strips the bone, the lamb falls off effortlessly...but alas not this time. I hacked and sawed away at it until I gave up and actually picked it up in my hands to try and peel the meat off with my teeth. I gave up and left it. Unfortunately the taste to the couscous was not appealing to me so that was left as well. In my embarassment of leaving so much food on my plate my husband tried to help me out but had the same difficulty as me therefore I had no option but to leave it piled on my plate. My husband was reasonably pleased with his meal however didn't feel it was worth the high price. On collecting our plates the waitress asked if everything was alright. Never having complained about a meal before I uncomfortably replied that I was unable to cut the meat as it was so tough. She said sorry, however that was that. We noticed the Waiter moving around the other tables asking if everything was alright with their meals but he didnt approach us. As I was still hungry I reluctantly ordered a dessert which was adequate. We paid our bill, approx £70 and left feeling a "little" hard done by.
Our visit took place at the end of May '07. Having eaten an excellent Lamb Shank at a Turkish Restaurant last weekend with friends, we couldn't help but talk about that evening and "that meal"!

We booked a meal at the Plantagenet restaurant, Tenby for a special treat for my elderly parents. We arrived at 7.00pm We ordered 3 lemon sole, @ £20.00 each and 1 fillet steak @£24.00, 30minutes later 1 lemon sole arrived which was served to my Mother and fillet steak which was served to myself. My mother started to debone her fish and I cut into my fillet it was very small and very well done (I asked for Medium). The waiter then came along and advised that there would be a delay on the other two meals, would we like to start ours or wait 4 minutes and start our meals together and receive fresh, well the latter was the obvious. We then waited another 30minutes (what happened to the 4 minutes) to be served our meals, my father cut into his fish and to his horror it was the fish my mother had been served earlier with all the head and bones placed back neatly and it didnt finish there, I removed the sauce off my steak only to find it was yes, the steak which I had sliced into earlier. We had no apology from the management and had to walk out can you imagine the embarrasment of ones elderly parents having to do that. I would not recommend this restaurant so please be aware and think twice before eating at this restaurnant, there are plenty of other good restaurants in Tenby.

We went to the Plantagenet house on 5th September 2006, the restaurant was recommended to us earlier in the day by a lady who told us that the food was fantastic and it was quite possibly the best restaurant in Tenby. When we arrived we had no idea that we had to book a table, this was through our own ignorance by not checking earlier in the day. However this was not a problem, the waitress, Emma, could not do enough for us, we had a fantastic evening and as we were informed quite rightly earlier the food was exellent and as for the sevice we could not fault it. Later on in the evening my partner, Andrew, decided to throw a suprise on me with the help of Emma and the rest of the staff. I refused the dessert because I really couldn't eat any more but between Andrew and Emma they convinced me to have something light, reluctantly I agreed and Emma assured me she knew exactly what I'd like? Anyway to cut along story short Emma arrived with a plate of strawberries & cream and an engagement ring in the middle of it, Andrew then proceeded to propose to me in front of the packed restaurant, how could I have possibly refused. The staff were so pleased for us and the manager bought us a drink. Andrew and I are getting married on the 1st September 2007 and we hope to get back to this wonderfull restaurant soon.

So thankyou to Emma and the rest of the staff for helping to make my surprise so memorable and we hope to see you soon

We dined at this restaurant this weekend 18/11/06 and I must say it was the most enjoyable experience I have had in a restaurant. The owner could not have done more for us. He showed us the thousand year old chimney and I have to say - wow what a feature. The meal it self was fantastic. A little pricy but worth every penny.

I will definately be returning to this wonderful restaurant.

We had always admired the restrauant on visits to Tenby and on our last holiday we thought we would treat ourselves to an evening meal, how disappointed we were. The starter, scallops needed a magnifying glass to find them - 4 as big as a tenpence in a copious bed of lettuce and my main course, steak was so tough it was inedible, the price was deducted from my bill but the whole evening was spoilt by a very bad meal. My wife faired a little better with the soup and Tuna

Having read of the restaurant in a number of guides, and not being able to book a table on our last vsit to Tenby, my wife and I were very keen to sample its delights. We were too late to book a table for the Saturday night but were pleased to be third on the list (12 advance bookings are allowed I think) for the Sunday.

We arrived early for our booked table and noticed from the reservations book that my name had been crossed off and the table presumably had been re-allocated. My name had been put at the end of the list and we were shown to a table in a corner.

The food was delicious and the wine excellent (although the prices are on the expensive side) and I would compliment the chef. However the service was sadly lacking and there were other disappointing issues.

1. Booking issues as above
2. Need to replace broken chairs at both our table and neighbouring table. No staff in sight to help.
3. Long delays in getting order taken and courses served.
4. No fish knives provided (at a fish restaurant?)
5. No overspill plates for lobster (which was fanatstic) and further delays when asked.
6. Wine quickly placed on table with no offer to taste before staff disappeared again.
7. Long delay in receiving vegetables after main course had been served

With a meal for two costing over £100 I would have expected better service. The food was superb (especially the crab bisque and the lobster) and I would suggest that the restaurant is excellent if not busy. Fewer customers and better care of those would be my advice.
