I could do with some help on decent diets for diabetics? Conventional or alternative wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Colin.

This is an interesting alternative view. Similar to the Atkins diet. I'm out of my league on the pros and cons of this versus the 'conventional' wisdom, but I guess people can read it and make up their own minds. http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/diabetes-5.html

Thanks for that. The advice is a bit Atkins - ish however, appears plausible and thought provoking. Can anybody more in the know offer an informed opinion on this?
Thanks.

Having diabetes doesn't mean that you have to start eating special foods or follow a complicated diabetes diet plan. For most people, a diabetes diet simply translates into eating a variety of foods in moderate amounts and sticking to regular mealtimes.
This means choosing a diet that emphasizes vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Consistency also is key, because your body responds to excess calories and fat by creating an undesirable rise in blood sugar. Rather than a restrictive diet, a diabetes diet is a healthy-eating plan that's naturally rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories. In fact, it's the best eating plan for everyone.

My suggestion would be aside from diabetic diets, take some food supplement and have some proper exercise. What do you think?

There are several foods that you should not include in your diabetics diet like foods that contains too much of carbohydrates and saturated fats. But it doesn't mean that a diabetic patient can never eat fats and carbohydrates. There are some good carbohydrates and fats will help diabetics patients to maintain their sugar level. Some foods that have good carbohydrates are whole grains, fruits, vegetables, bran, and legumes.
