Talisker Skye and Lochalsh Food and Drink Festival

18th – 21st September 2003

This September sees the welcome return of the Skye and Lochalsh Food & Drink Festival. Last year, over 1,500 people attended a variety of events and even included a couple from Texas and a lady from Oregon coming on holiday specially to go to the Festival's Whisky Banquet – and they attended lots of other events as well Naturally, this year we will keep up the momentum and attract even more people to attend events – locals and visitors.

Each day of the Festival has a specific theme and there will be plenty happening throughout Skye and Lochalsh so you can be sure of something which will tickle your fancy. The themes include Skye and Lochalsh for Starters on Thursday 18th so restaurants or hotels will be doing something around the theme of special starters for a meal or some places could join together to do a tour.

Friday 19th will be Highland Traditions - this will include the sell-out Plockton Village Hall tea. This is always popular and no wonder - when you can taste the home-baking, the locally-made cheeses and sample all sorts of seafood and other specialities.

A Day for the Family is Saturday's theme. This year we will see some community organisations getting involved as well so you can be sure there will be plenty of food, drink and fun at these events. A welcome come-back from two years ago is the Isle of Skye Seafood Factory Open Day. Then finally, Sunday is Sunday Chill out, it could be relaxing over a special breakfast, taking a leisurely cruise in a boat with seafood nibbles or savouring the last drop of something special before the Festival closes down for another year.
