Anybody who lives near Sandbach and enjoys Indian food will know the Ganges
Takeaway. The excellent news for local food lovers is that they have just
opened a restaurant by extending the premises next door.
On the 20th December myself and local reviewer Dave Pickles were invited as
guests to dine in the new restaurant on its first night.
We were shown around the excellent new restaurant and bar. It appears no
expense has been spared in order to present a modern, clean and rather original
style.
The entrance consists of a long modern bar area, which will be fitted out
with bar stools and seating. The feeling is very modern. This leads into the air
conditioned restaurant with sumptuous pile carpet and seating for 50 - 60
diners.
The toilet facilities are pristine and spacious with disabled people also
specially catered for.
This is a million miles from the traditional image of flock wallpapers and
subdued lighting in Indian restaurants. Together with its new image it has an
extensive and imaginative menu, sporting many dishes not normally served
in traditional Indian restaurants. Even the menu is smart and different,
opening horizontally instead of a normal vertical spine. This is a
measure of how much thought and planning has gone into the new venture.
eatanddrink wish the management and staff of the Ganges every success
with the new restaurant. I am sure it will be a great success as it aims to
cater for more than the traditional Indian food lover.
