CHESTERFIELD WOMAN WINS TRIP OF A LIFETIME IN UK SHELLFISH COMPETITION!

Mrs. Jean Flint of Chesterfield has won first prize – a sumptuous shellfish dinner – which she can choose to enjoy in any one of five dream destinations: Rio De Janeiro, New York, Cape Town, Honolulu or Acapulco.

The competition entitled “The World Is Your Oyster” featured in a 12-page shellfish recipe booklet that was produced by the Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish). The booklet was free and was available from fishmongers throughout the UK plus through selected Tesco, Somerfield and Kwiksave stores.

As well as featuring a fantastic shellfish competition, the recipe booklet contained tasty recipes such as prawn and pineapple kebabs with avocado salsa, mussel risotto and scampi with creamed coconut and lime.

A delighted Mrs. Flint together with her husband – Alan, received confirmation of their prize from Graham Nursaw of Seafish. The presentation took place at the Chesterfield Fish Company in Chesterfield’s indoor market where Jean picked up the recipe booklet.

Mrs Flint said: “I couldn’t believe it when Seafish phoned to say that I had won. I buy seafood at least three times a week and the Chesterfield Fish Company has always got a good selection of recipe leaflets. I remember picking up the shellfish booklet because it was quite big for a free booklet and of course it had the competition in it – I must admit though I never thought I would win. All I have to do now is decide where I would like to go!”

Presenting the award, Graham Nursaw of Seafish said: “The response to the shellfish competition was astounding, we received hundreds of thousands of entries, which just goes to show how many people love shellfish and how lucky Mrs. Flint was to win too.”

Seafish are also mailing out £20 seafood vouchers to 250 runners up all over the UK. 16th July, 1999
