Fancy a pint of fish, chips and mushy peas?

The Ultimate Fish and Chip Beer Awards.

A delighted Sea Fish Industry Authority was recently asked to chair the ‘Ultimate Fish and Chip Beer’ awards devised by the National Hop Association of England.

Judges chairman, Mike Platt, the Seafish Quality Assurance Advisor for UK fish and chip shops commented: “The fact that there is a nationwide competition organised to find a beer suitable to accompany fish and chips shows us that Britain’s top take-away remains as popular as ever.”

Daleside Brewery’s ‘Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas’ or FCP was chosen as the winner by a panel of Britain’s top brewers, beer writers and fish friers.

FCP was specially brewed for the competition and has already gained a listing with the Booths Supermarkets of Preston, whose 24 stores in the north west have earned them the title of ‘British Beer Supermarket of the Year’.

Craig Witty, brewer of the winning beer said: “Our brewery is surrounded by fish and chip shops and our team spent many long evenings of finger-licking research to find the right beer for this important competition. We intend to use this victory to persuade people to drink interesting ales, such as our own, when they eat fish and chips.”

The beer will be available in-store by middle of July.
